I went to overnight trip to Tateyama Kurobe Alpine in
June 6 and 7, 2017 under "Club Tourism tour" as follows: Nagoya Station¨Tateyama Station ¨<= Transport in Alpine Route => ¨Ogizawa¨ Azumino¨Nagoya Station = Transport in Alpine Route = Tateyama Station¨(7min. Tateyama Cable Car)¨ Bijodaira (See Note No.1)¨ (50min. Tateyama Highland Bus)¨Murodo (Stay overnight;See Note No.2)¨ (10min. Tateyama Tunnel Trolley Bus)¨Daikambo(See Note No.3)¨ (7min. Tateyama Ropeway)¨Kurobedaira(See Note No.4)¨(5min. Kurobe Cable Car)¨ Lake Kurobe(See Note No.5)¨(20min. <0.8km> Walk)¨Kurobe Dam(See Note No.5)¨ (16min. Kanden Tunnel Trolley Bus)¨Ogizawa Note No.1 Bijodaira You can stroll through original forest(primevalforest) with 1,000 years of old ceders and beech trees. No.2 Murodo(highest train station in Japan) Murodo is a lava plateau at altitude of 2,450m. The plateau has been formed when peaks of the Tateyama erupted about 50,000years ago. You can see "Jigokudani(hell valley)","Mikurigaike Hot Spring"(highest hot spring in Japan) or other beautiful scenery around Mikurigaike pond. No.3 Daikambo You can see outstanding view from the observation deck atop the station such as wide panorama of Northern Alps of Japan, the lake formed by Kourobe dam or the other. No.4 Kurobedaira When you exist the station, you find botanical garden displaying high altitude plants, or the place for dringking water from a spring. No.5 Lake Kurobe & Kurobe Dam(Tallest dam in Japan) After walking along Kurobe Dam, and when climbing the flight of 280 steps, you can see panoramic view of the mountains or Lake Kurobe. To cope with energy shortage after the World War 2, Kurobe Dam with hydroelectric power has been constructed. The dam with a height of 186m is situated at an altitude of 1,500m, and the tallest arch dam in Japan. 10 million people worked to construct the dam, and 171 lost their lives in the construction. the most difficult work was to dig the tunnels which Kanden Tunnel Trolley Bus is running. A film featuring the construction entitled "Kurobe no Taiyou" (translated into "Sun over Kurobe") was released in 1968.
