春祭りでのお天王様

2004年4月17日と18日は瀬戸の陶祖といわれる伝説上の人物である加藤藤四朗の
業績を称えて、陶祖祭が催されました。

同日、瀬戸市民である小生の町内では春祭りが行われました。お天王様で午前9時に
集合し、｢お天王様｣に拝礼した後、小学生以下で獅子行列を作り、氏神様が奉ってある
｢お金神社｣まで太鼓などを叩きながらゆっくり進んで行き、帰りは違うコース（山側）を
とりました。

町内の｢お天王様｣といわれる祠とは何かを以下に推測しました。

｢お天王様｣についての推測：
小生の町内にある｢お天王様｣と呼んでいる祠は津島神社の分霊社のひとつであり、
御祭神は天照皇大神の弟である、須佐之男命で御神徳は疫病・厄難除け・医療・
殖産興業と授福。

≪由緒≫
津島神社は古くは津島牛頭天王社（ごずてんのうしゃ）と申し、今日なお一般に
「津島のお天王さま」と尊称されております。社伝によれば欽明天皇元年
（西暦５４０）にご鎮座され、その後弘仁元年正一位の神階と日本総社の号を、
一条天皇の正歴年中には天王社の号を賜わり、諸国の天王社の総本社で、
全国に約三千のご分霊社があります。
御祭神：たけはやすさのおのみこと建速須佐之男命
御神徳：疫病・厄難除け・医療・殖産興業と授福
とある。

根拠２
小生の町内の｢お天王様｣と呼ばれている祠には愛知県の津島神社のお札がある。

それでは、春祭りの様子を以下の写真でご紹介します。

Toso Festival was held in Seto City on both April 17 and 18, 2004 honoring the
achievement of Kato Toshiro, legendary person allegedly said to be founder of pottery.

At 9:00 am on same day, people in charge of a spring festival in our community
gathered at "Otennousama-shrine" to hold this community-spring festival in Seto City.
After praying fervently to the god in the shrine, a procession of children under
primary school children with lion mask in the lead strolled to Ogane-Jinja shrine
which enshrines guardian god while beating a drum or a bell.
This procession took different course (low mountain side) in return.

My conjecture on "Otennousama-shrine" in our community is as follows:

This shrine is one of about 3000 branch-like shrines across the country which
main shrine is Tsushima Shrine in Aichi Prefecture.
"Susanoo-no-mikoto", brother of "Amaterasuoonokami" (or top-rank god in Japan)
is worshiped as a god.
Virtue of the god: Protecting people against epidemic, evils or illness.

History:
Tsushima-jinja shrine was called "Tsushima-Gozu-Tennousha", and is now titled
honorifically as "Tsushima's Otennousama".
According to "Shaden" (or Historical document written by god character), the god has
been enshrined in the year of 540.
"Tsushima's Otennousama" is main shrine of about 3000 Tennou-shrines
across the country.
"Susanoo-no-mikoto" is worshiped as a god.

Virtue of the god:
Protecting people against epidemic, evils or illness. Encouragement of new industry.
Beatification.

The shrine called "Otennousama" in our community has a paper slip of
