慶昌院・秋葉火まつり・活花展

２００４年１１月２１日付け中日新聞朝刊｢なごや東版｣に＜慶昌院で｢秋を親しむ｣と題した
華道拈華（ねんげ）流の生け花展が１１月２１日、火まつりが営まれる瀬戸市の慶昌院本堂で
開かれる＞と書いてあったので、生け花を見てきました。
"East Nagoya version" in a morning editin of Chunichi Shinbun, the biggest local press in Japan,
dated November 21, 2004 said that the flower arrangement exhibition is held by "Nenge" school
of flower arrangement at the main temple of Keishoin temple where a fire festival is managed
on November 21, 2004. This exhibition is entitled "Let's enjoy autumn".

午前４時頃から｢火の上を裸足で歩く｣というイベントが行われていたようでしたが、お昼には、
終わっていました。　（←実際に見ていませんが、境内で他のイベントをされている一般の人に
聞いた話しです）
It ended in daytime though the event "Walked barefooted on the fire" seemed to have
been held since about 4:00AM. (←I do not actually see it, and the fire festival was taught by
a person who was the other event at the same precinct.)

慶昌院は本尊が釈迦牟尼仏で曹洞宗のお寺です
Keishoin temple belongs to Soto sect of Buddhist and its principal image of this temple is
Sakyamuni (or "Gautama" or "Buddha).

医王山慶昌院　縁起
History of Keishoin temple

当院は文明五年（一四七三）後土御門天皇の御代、松原下総守廣長公が今村城築城の際、
城域守護を祈願し、八王子大明神並に薬師如来を勧請し、別当職兼務にて医王山八王寺を
開創したことに始まる。
爾来天台宗八王寺として一五〇有余年の歳月を経る
This temple starts from founding Hachiohji temple by praying for the castle region protection
and by bringing in spirits of Hachioji prince (8 princes) and the Healing Buddha when
Mr. Hironaga Matsubara builds Imamurra castle in the era of the Emperor Gotsuchimikado
(1442-1500).
For about 150 years since then, Keishoin temple existed as Hachiohji temple of Tendai sect.

秋葉火まつりは毎年１１月第３日曜日行われる。
Akiba fire festival is held the third Sunday in November every year.

山門の両側の柱に｢火祭｣と記された提灯が掛かっている
Ｌanterns marked "Fire Festival" are hung on

横3.6m x 縦2.7mの台を使って、暮れゆく秋の風情を表した。

a stand of 3.6 m in width and 2.7 m in length.
