「時」を表わすギリシャ語カイロス（kairos）は切断するという動詞に由来するもので、
誕生や死、決定的な出会い、社会的大変動のような重大な経験に用いられる。
小さな出会いが大きなカイロスに発展していくことも・・・。
Greek Cairos (kairos) that shows "Time" originates in the verb of cutting, and is
used to serious experience such as birth, death, definite meeting or enormous change

２００４年１１月１９日付け中日新聞朝刊｢なごや東版｣に＜｢カイロスの時・空・間｣
と題して陶器・陶磁器作品展示会が瀬戸市新世紀工芸館で行われ、１１月２１日
午後1時30分、展示者２人による作品解説がある＞と書いてあったので、見てきました。
その様子を紹介します。
"East Nagoya version" in a morning editin of Chunichi Shinbun, the biggest local press
in Japan, dated November 19, 2004 said that works of pottery and porcelain are
exhibited at Seto Ceramics and Glass Art Center, entitled "Time/Space/Distance of
Kairos" and that both of the exhibitors will explain their works at 1:30 pm, November 21,
2004.
So, I went to see.

The situation is as follows:

【陶芸作家】
寺田康雄　氏　　：５６歳。　瀬戸市西窯町。日本の現代若手陶芸家100人の１人。　
　　　　　　　　　　　　人間のスケール、製作スタイルのユニークさ、研究の精密さ、
　　　　　　　　　　　　気取らない態度、人を引きつける話術の巧みさなど、魅力一杯。

清水六兵衛　氏　：５０歳。　京都清水焼の８代目。
　　　　　　　　　　　　大学で建築学を専攻。ドラフター（製図機）を使い、緻密に作品を設計し、
　　　　　　　　　　　　その設計に基づき、｢たたら｣を作り、｢平らな粘土に貼りつける｣という
　　　　　　　　　　　　科学的製作手法を特徴とする。

Mr. Rokubee Kiyomizu:
　　　　　　　　　　　50 years old; The eighth generation of Kyoto Kiyomizu ware
　　　　　　　　　　　He majored in architectonics at an university. He exactly designs the work
　　　　　　　　　　　by handling the drafter (drafting machine), making "Tatara" (like plate-shape
　　　　　　　　　　　clay) based on the design and putting Tatara on flat clay. The production
　　　　　　　　　　　style is scientific.

土は石川県小松市と信楽の土

１２３０℃で酸化焼成 Oxidized fire at 1230℃

寺田氏作品　　｢車体｣ Work of Mr. Terada "Car body"
窖窯において、１１８０～１２８０℃で中性焼成
Neutral Fire at 1180 - 1280℃ in Anagama (cave-like kiln)
窯の場所により温度が異なる。
土は瀬戸市の土 Clay in Seto city
＊志野、織部、黄瀬戸釉なら、大窯で焼成も考えられるとの事
This work will be fired in Ohgama kiln (big kiln with single firing chamber)
if the work is glazed with Shino, Oribe or Kiseto.

寺田氏作品　　｢車体｣ Work of Mr. Terada "Car body"
窖窯において、１１５０（黄瀬戸）～１２３０℃で中性焼成
Neutral Fire at 1150 (Kiseto glaze) - 1230℃ in Anagama (cave-like kiln)
土は瀬戸市の土。但し、上記の土より収縮率が小さい土。
Clay in Seto city. But, the contraction percentages are smaller
than the above-mentioned clay.
全体の白い部分は長石の志野釉、部分的な黄色の部分は黄瀬戸釉。
Shino of feldspar is glazed to the entire white part, and
Kiseto is to partial yellow part.

寺田氏作品　　｢タイヤ｣ Work of Mr. Terada "Tire"
窖窯にて焼成。土は瀬戸市の土。Fired in Anagama kiln. Clay in Seto city
（写真はありませんが、別の大きいタイヤは大窯にて焼成。
同じ土でも窯の形式により、完成品の大きさが変わる）
(Another large tire is fired in Ohgama kiln though there is no photograph.
The size of final product depends on the kind of the kiln
even if using same clay).

寺田氏作品　　｢バンパー｣ Work of Mr. Terada "Bumper"
上下をさかさまにしてある。展示での座りをよくする為。
The top and bottom is turned upside down to make the work stable.
窖窯において、１１８０～１２８０℃で中性焼成。
Neutral Fire at 1180 - 1280℃ in Anagama kiln
土は瀬戸市の土。
Clay in Seto city
