瀬戸市での作陶体験Pottery Forming Experience in Seto City

２００５年１１月１２日午前９：４５に｢パルティせと｣３階で集合し、　瀬戸市の陶芸教室｢創陶｣
（詳細下記）へ。
We gathered at the 3rd floor of "Parti Seto" around 9:45 am on November 12, 2005 to
go to ceramic art school "Soutou" to experience forming of pottery(See the detail below).

｢創陶｣のご主人がロクロ成形、　たたら成形、ひも作り、手びねり成形を実演と共に
説明された後、陶芸体験者１８人が｢たたら成形｣と｢手びねり成形｣に分かれ
作陶体験をしました。
The master of this school performed various forming .such as "Rokuro-forming (throwing)",
"Tatara-forming (molding)", "Himo-zukuri (clay string producing)" and "Tebineri-forming
(Hand forming)", and explained. After that, participants of the forming experience were
divided into two groups of "Tatara-forming" and "Tebineri-forming".

実演を見ていると、簡単に見えていましたが、実際に体験してみると、難しかったです。
陶芸家のご主人に手ほどきを受けたりしながら、なんとか完成させる事が出来ました。
Although the forming seemed to be easy when looking at the performance, it was difficult.
Thanks to the assistance of the master, we could manage to complete the forming.

完成した作品に高台を付けたり、釉薬を掛けたり、焼くことは｢創陶｣さんがされます。
完成した作品の釉薬は織部釉、黄瀬戸釉又は鉄釉等から選ぶことができます。
Fitting base rest to, applying glazing agentsto, firing of the formed work will be carried out
by the school later. glazing agents can be chozen among "Green Oribe-glaze", "Yellow
Kiseto-glaze" or "Black Iron-glaze" by the participants.

焼成時の縮小率は約１５％とご説明を受け、完成した大きさを想定しながら
成形することになりますが、なかなかイメージ通りには成形できず、結局
コーヒーカップを作ろうと思っていましたが、出来たのは鉢です。それでも、
ご主人に助けてもらい、良い形になり、満足しています。
Shrinking rate of the formed body after firing is about 15 %, he explained..
So, participants would form the body while imaging the size of the fired body. Web writer
tried to produce coffee cup, but the final shape is a bowl. Even so, the master assisted
the writer who was very satisfied with the completed bowl.

完成までには約２週間かかり、｢創陶｣さんから連絡があるので、各自が引き取りに行きます。
It will take about 2 weeks for completion. After being informed by "Soutou", each
participant will go there to take the completed work.

終わった後、体験者のうち６人が朝日町の商店街の｢もやい処｣で昼食を取り、解散しました。
After the experience is over, six of the participants had lunch at an eating house
"Moyaidokoro" and parted.

完成品の引き取りが待ち遠しいです。
The taking of the completed work is a long time in coming.
