I visited to Kisokoma-area (Kiso area, Nagano Prefecture) on sunny days of Aug. 13 and 14, 2004. Main spots in this visit are "Kakisore Ravine" (Nagiso-cho, Kiso-gun, Nagano Pref.) and "Yoshinaka-Yakata" (Hiyoshi-mura, Kiso-gun, Nagano Pref.). This time, I did not visit "Tomoegafuchi"deep pool, playing zone where Komaoumaru (childhood name of General Kiso Yoshinaka) and Tomoe (later, following him as femail military commander, Tomoegozen) enjoyed in their childhood. Adera river is picturesque. This river is on the way to a place, Nojiri from "Kakisore Ravine" through "Forest Spa Kiso". The light reflected off water of the river and white stones on the riverbed, leading to emerald green river. Many private cars are parked along Adera river. Family and the children were doing water play at the dry river bed. ≪Kakisore Ravine≫ Please seethe preceding page. <about 2 and a half hours' drive from Seto City thorugh National road No.248 - Prefecture road No.66 - National road No.19> ≪Hiyoshi-mura(or Hiyoshi village), Kiso-gun, Nagano Pref.≫ About 1 hour-drive to north on National road No.19 through a place, Nojiri. from "Kakisore Ravine" Hiyoshi-mura is a hometown of tragic hero "Asahi-Shougun (or general), Kiso Yoshinaka" and a beautiful female general "Tomoegozen". This is the place where Minamotono Yoshinaka (or "Kiso Yoshinaka") spent the childhood time at the Heian period. Yoshinaka and Tomoe were childhood friends. When adolescence came around, they became in love with each other naturally. She had been at his side as a nobleman's concubine. Yoshinaka did not make her a legal wife but he dared totake her as a nobleman's concubine. She is famous as a female warrior who ran about on battlefields with Yoshinaka. 【Quotations from web pages "Kiso Yoshinaka/Tomoegozen Grave/ Tokuonji Temple" in "Japanese History Romance" 】 ≪Life of Kiso Yoshinaka≫ As the second son of Yoshikata Minamotono , Kiso Yoshinakath was born at a mansion in a country, Musashi the first year of Kyuju era (1154), and was called Komaoumaru. It was a time of his being 2 years old that his father, Yoshikata was attacked and ruined by Yoshihira, an eldest son of Yoshikata's elder brother, Yoshitomo. Komaoumaru escaped to Kiso, a country in Shinano district by sympathy of Shigeyoshi Hatakeyama and Sanemori Saito, and was brought up by Kaneto Nakahara. Komaoumaru declared himself Kiso Jiro Minamotono Yoshinaka after "Genpuku" (See Note 1), the coming-of-age ceremony for a boy the first year of Nin-an era (1166). Then he raised an army to hunt down and kill the enemy, Heike clan under an order by 2nd prince, Mochihito of Houou, Goshirakawa (See Note 2) 4th year of Jishou era (1180) and marched on Hokuriku region (in the northwest of Kyoto) 2nd year of Juei era (1183). It is especially famous that Yoshinaka attached the torch to the horn of cows at the Kurikara Pass , and drove Heike's large force into a corner and destroyed completely. After that, Yoshinaka entered Kyoto and was nominated as the Barbarian subduing Great General. But, he was defeated by Kamakura army under a trick of Houou, Goshirakawa and died at a place, Awazugahara the first year of Genryaku era (1184). It was short whole life of 31 years old. ≪Note 1≫ Genpuku "Genpuku" means a ceremony to show that a boy reached the adult at the age of about 12. ≪Note 2≫ Houou "Houou" means a retired emperor with a Buddhist name; a monk emperor; the ex emperor.. 【Quotations from web page "Yoshinakayakata"】 |
