萩御殿と｢友好の青花壁｣ "Hagi-goden" and "Friendship Wall of Blue & White Porcelain"

名鉄尾張瀬戸駅（又は、駅に隣接した｢パルティせと｣）から徒歩で約１０分（約７００ｍ）の所に
瀬戸市文化センターがあります。　ここの南に隣接して、周囲約３ｋｍの南公園がありますが、
この公園内の東は小高い山になっており、散策しながら、治山工事の歴史や技術を学べます。
又、公園南端には遊具施設がある遊園地があります。
"Seto City Cultural Center" is positioned about 10 minutes walk about 700m distant) from
"Owari-Seto" station of Meitetsu Seto Line ("Parti Seto" next to this station).
"South Park" with about 3 km around is situated south to this Cultural Center. Low mountain
is formed at east of the Park. You can learn a history and technology of soil saving work by
walking in the low mountain. Families were enjoying at the outdoor amusement park with play
equipment at south end of the park.

遊園地の東３００ｍ位の所には｢萩御殿｣【注１参照】を模した休憩施設があります。
A resting place copying "Hagi Palace"【See Note 1】is located 300 m east of the amusement
park.

文化センターの裏（南）には南公園に通ずる｢友好の青花壁｣【注２参照】という階段があります。
There is stairs called "Friendship Wall of Blue & White Porcelain" 【See Note 2】which is
connected with "South Park" behind (or at the south of )Seto City Cultural Center.

環境破壊反対活動団体が瀬戸市の｢海上（かいしょ）の森｣には、大鷹の巣がある、しでこぶし
が自生、森の緑が破壊される等で、愛知万博反対を声高に喧伝し、結局、瀬戸市から長久手町
へメイン会場が変更されました。　理解出来る所もありますが、｢森は自然に任せ放置していると、
逆に森は破壊されていく、すなわち、人の手が加わらないと、自然生態系は維持されない｣事は
一切触れられなかったことには、がっかりしました。　
Campaign groups against destruction of the environment made spread abroad opposition of
opening of 2005 EXPO at Seto City, Aichi, Japan, and the main venue has been shifted to
Nagakute Town, Aichi, Japan.
The reasons for the opposition were:
There are nests of big hawk
Endangered deciduous trees belonging to magnolia family grow wild around here.
Green of forests are destroyed.

Although I can understand such reasons, I was disappointed with not being referred about
ecosystem of nature. That is to say, ecosystem of nature will be maintained only by people's
taking a measure or trying every possible means. So, If forests are left as they are, they will
be destroyed.

１　萩御殿　≪説明板から一部引用≫
明治３３年（1900）愛知県による大規模なハゲ山復旧工事が東春日井郡瀬戸町字西茨
（いばらき）＜現在の瀬戸市萩殿町一帯＞などで実施された。　明治４３年（1910）１１月１７日
この地を皇太子殿下（後の大正天皇）が行啓され、萩を用いて建てた通称｢萩の茶屋｣から、
緑に回復しつつある山々をご覧になり、記念にアカマツを植栽された。その後、｢萩の茶屋｣は
行啓を記念して｢萩御殿｣と呼ばれるようになった。
平成１７(2005)年３月、治山事業｢萩殿の森環境防災林整備事業｣により、当時の写真を参考
に｢萩御殿｣を模した休憩施設が建設された。

Hagi Palace ≪quoted partially from an explanation board≫
Large scale restoration works of bare [treeless] hill around Hagi-dono-cho, Seto City was
done in the year of 1900.
Crown Prince (the Emperor Taisho later on) came here on November 17, 1910 and saw
the hill begin to be covered in greenery at an arbor called "Hagi-no-Jyaya" which was
built using hagi (or a Japanese bush clover). He planted Japanese red pine in the hill in memory.
After that, the "Hagi-no-Jyaya" has been called "Hagi Goden" (or Hagi Palace") in
commemoration of the Crown Prince's visit. Taking advantage of an afforestation work,
"Preparation work of disaster prevention wood for Hagi-dono area" and referring to the
photo of "Hagi Goden" of those days, a resting place copying from the "Hagi Goden" has
been built in March, 2005.

１９９６年友好都市提携をした中国の景徳鎮市から贈られた染付皿が｢友好の青花壁｣に
埋めこまれています。中国では染付のことを青花という。

≪quoted partially from an explanation board≫
Sometsuke(blue and white) plates presented by Jingdezhen City, China which has conclued
a friendship city agreement with Seto City in 1996 have been buried in "Friendship Wall of
Blue & White Porcelain". Sometsuke is called "Blue Flower" in China.
