｢窯垣の小径｣Kamagaki-no-Komichi alley

２００６年８月２７日｢窯垣の小径｣をぶらっと歩きました。洞街道沿いの｢窯垣の小径｣
駐車場に駐車して、北の階段を上がると、すぐに崖沿いの小径に出ます。　これが
｢窯垣の小径｣です。ちょっと歩くとすぐ、案内標識と｢椋の木｣（むくのき）があります。　
この椋の木は昔、陶器・陶磁器を天秤の要領で運んだ時に天秤棒として利用されました。
従って、椋の木がある所には窯元があったといわれています。この案内標識から
５０ｍ位で｢窯垣の小径資料館｣に着きます。
I walked along "Kamagaki-no-Komichi" alley on August 27, 2006. When having parked
my car at "Kamagaki-no-Komichi" parking lot, and going up north stairs, I came across
an alley along a cliff. This is "Kamagaki-no-Komichi" alley. When walking for a short time,
you will find a guide board for "Muku-no-ki" tree. The tree was used as carrying pole
when carrying pottery or porcelain. Therefore, it is said that there were potteries where
there were the trees. It is about 50 m from the guide board to "Kamagaki-no-Komichi"
museum.

｢窯垣の小径資料館｣には｢馬の目皿｣、｢石皿｣や｢本業タイル｣などがショーケースに
展示されています。
"Uma-no-me-zara", "Ishi-zara","Hongyo-tile" and so on are exhibited at a showcase of
Kamagaki-no-Komichi" museum.

１　馬の目皿
江戸時代後期から大正時代にかけて、盛んに作られた皿で、皿の内面に鉄で
渦巻き模様がいくつか描かれているのが特徴です。　この模様が｢馬の目｣のように
見えるので、この名がついたと言われています。見込みに絵が描かれたものもあります。
柳宗悦らの民芸運動では、石皿とともに、瀬戸を代表する民芸の逸品として絶賛を
浴びています。

２　石皿
煮物を盛るときなどに使用された食器。　厚手で皿の縁が折れ曲がっていて、
呉須（コバルト顔料）と鬼板（鉄顔料）の２色で絵が描かれている。

1 "Uma-no-me-zara"
"Uma" means "horse" ,"me" means "eye", and zara(sara) means plate.
Many of this "Uma-no-me-zara" plates were produced for a period from
the latter half year of Edo era (1603 - 1867= 265 years) to Taisho era(1912-1926).
Plural eddy pattern are drawn with iron glaze on the inside of the plate. The name
}of the plate seems to come from that the pattern looks like an eye of horse.
