第６９回せともの祭り

９月の第２土曜・日曜日は瀬戸物祭り。
一昨年迄は第３土曜・日曜日が瀬戸物祭りだったが、何時も雨（時には、台風）に祟られる為、
第２に変更された。
昭和７年〔１９３２年）に始まり、戦中・戦後の中止を除き、毎年行われ今年で６９回目。
磁祖の加藤民吉（１７７２年～１８２４年）を祀る窯神神社の祭礼の一環と、産業祭をかねて
行われている。昨年は全国から５０万人を超える人が集まりました。　ミスせとものや
愛知県警察音楽隊のパレード他、非常に多くの催し物が用意され、瀬戸市民である小生でさえ
ほんの一部しか歩いて見て回れない位です。小生の楽しみは尾張瀬戸駅と窯神橋の間で
露店が並ぶ瀬戸川沿いから少し北へ入った所にある５０件位の手作り陶器専門の露店と
市民会館の西隣にある瀬戸市の中学生の露店を見て回る事です。特に、中学生の手作り
陶器は採算度外視の本当に良く出来た作品ばかりです。今年も１つ植木鉢を入れる鉢を
買いました。これ迄に２個買って、これで３個目ですが、いつも、みとれております。
小学生の頃から、ずっと見てきて、気がつくことは、質の良い手作り高級品がより以上に露店
に置かれ、手頃な値段で購入出来るようになった事。
物心がついた頃から現在の露店の並び方は同じで（昔に比べ、露店の並ぶ西端位置が
４００ｍ程東に移ったが）、このような祭りは永久に続けてほしいものです。

The second Saturday and Sunday in September are the long awaited Setomono Festival.
The third ones in Sept.were the periode of Festival until the year before last. The festival
has been harassed by rain (sometimes by typhoon) almost at those perod, and the day
s have been changed.
Starting on 1932, the festival has been held every year except for the period of war and
postwar and counts 69 times this year. Both as a part of the festival of Kamagami Jinjya
(Pottery God Shrine) and as idustrial festival, it has been held and 500 thousand people
gathered here from the whole country including foreigners last year. Many events or
entertainments have been provided. For example, parades of Miss Setomono or Aichi Pref.
Police Band. Even I, Seto city citizen, can visit only a part of such events.
My pleasure is to look at street stalls especially by junior highschool students of
Seto city where splendid handmade potteries by themselves are placed with
no thought of profit. I have bought a pot for placing flowerpot. The tendency is that
more good quality and handmade potteries are placed at streel stalls and provided at
reasonable prices.
I hope that this festival continues for ever.
